David Guetta is back with a little help from Nicki Minaj and Lil Wayne on the club-ready “Light My Body Up.”
Shall we just name 2017 the year of Minaj? because she is releasing a tonne of singles and features! She has been on fine form this year, stealing the show on many of her features – if you’re not excited for her next album, you must have something wrong with you.
On “Light My Body Up,” Minaj takes centre stage! The track starts with Minaj rapping and potentially taking a jab at Remy Ma, “Nah, she’ll never be queen, now she got a vendetta,” before doing what she does best, talking about herself and her wins.
However, Minaj quickly goes back to singing on the second verse, which is a bit of a shame because it just falls back into a generic club hit. Although she does sound good, and finally sounding auto-tune free – we know she’s not the best singer, but she can sure hold a note!
Guetta’s production takes somewhat of a backseat here, only taking centre stage for half of the chorus with an annoying tinny sound, which will obviously take over the club – for better or worse.
Lil Wayne…well, what can I say? His lyrics are just sex, sex and more sex, and that’s only clear once you get through his mumbled pitchy rap.
