Song Of The Week: Carly Rae Jepsen – “Cut To The Feeling” | Review

The criminally underappreciated queen of pop that is Carly Rae Jepsen has released yet another brilliant song, called “Cut To The Feeling.”

You will have probably heard that Emotion, her last album, was one of the greatest pop moments in years – it was pretty spectacular pop. Well, since then she’s released a B-side album which was fucking amazing and now this, a song that could have slotted right in on Emotion – how amazing can one woman be?!

“Cut To The Feeling” brings all the things we love about Jepsen together onto one great song.

The vibes of the track are extremely reminiscent of the 80s, at times giving us Whitney Houston realness on “How Will I Know” – now that’s a pretty big comparison.

The big beat that sounds perfect for throwing your hands in the air and just not giving a shit, just like the best pop songs should!

Jepsen’s vocals are pretty standard here, not being pushed out of their comfort zone, but they don’t need to be, her voice, the production and the medley come together to create a piece of pop magic.

When this girl releases a bad song or leaves pop, there really needs to be a national mourning, because Jepsen is really one of the best!
