We’ve known it for years, but today, will.i.am has confirmed that the vocalist that has been part of The Black Eyed Peas for 15 years, Fergie, has left the group.
Over the last week, Fergie has left her label and created her own, called Dutchess Music and is planning on releasing her long-delayed sophomore album, Double Dutchess.
This news was proceeded by The Black Eyed Peas posting a photo of just the three boys, will, Taboo and alp.de.ap with the caption, “Hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil,” seemingly taking a dig at Fergie.
Will confirmed the news during an interview with Ahlan! saying; “”We’ve always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us, Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie. On Elephunk, there were several females that appeared on that album. Obviously, Fergie was the featured female, but on songs like ‘Lets Get it Started,’ it’s Noelle (Scaggs), and then Fergie, songs like ‘Latin Girls,’ it’s Debi Nova, and ‘Request Line,’ it’s Macy Gray. We’ll always work with good females.”
Basically, Will isn’t giving Fergie credit for what she brought to the band.
If it wasn’t for Fergie, the Peas arguably wouldn’t be the household name they are, thanks to “Shut Up,” “My Humps” and “Pump It” which Fergie not only featured in but stole the show.
Fergie was the show, give her credit.
However, in more positive news, Nicole Scherzinger has been rumoured to be filling the very large boots that Fergie is leaving.
