Cosmos & Creature – “Bad Drug” | Review

The lead single, and title track, from the Cosmos & Creature upcoming EP, Bad Drug, is a masterclass in retro-feeling, experimental pop.

You may recognise the band’s name from last years Spotify hit, the rousing, “Young,” but now the band have a much bigger agenda by the sounds of “Bad Drug” – to take over the pop sphere.

“Bad Drug” doesn’t mess around, it a full-on pop record that’s created to get stuck in your head for days!

The piano led track is surrounded by big synth beats that give off a retro feel, yet the track feels experimentally modern with whistles, claps and trumpets dotted throughout.

There’s an element of dream-wave implemented into the track with swirls and echoes building as the song plays.

The track captures ‘the thrill of infatuation’ extremely well, being a heartfelt track without taking itself too seriously; “Bruises on the knees for you” – cheeky!
