Cashmere Cat – “Quit” ft. Ariana Grande | Review

Cashmere Cat and Ariana Grande go half ballad/half pop banger on their new single, “Quit.”

Cat’s last single with and SOPHIE wasn’t exactly perfect, in fact, the breakdown was fucking disgusting. However, his new album, 9, doesn’t half sound bad, with only “9 (After Coachella)” and “Quit” adopting more industrial house approaches.

“Quit” is 90% Grande and 10 % Cat – so don’t go to this song wanted a typical Cat track.

Grande’s vocals sound flawless, as always, resting on a mostly breathy tone and peaking her voice at the end of each line – making the pattern memorable after the first listen.

The breakdown used industrial sounds that were used in “9,” however, rather than sounding shit, they fit the more ballad approach really well.

In fact, the final breakdown brings in more sounds from “9,” but slightly toned down and, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but they actually sound good.

This single was nearly our song of the week, but I felt the distinct split between ballad and banger was too noticeable – so here is your nearly – but not quite – song of the week.
